NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Saturday that New York's coronavirus numbers "continue to decline," with the state reporting its lowest number of hospitalizations and intubations since March.
Hospitalizations in the state were at 458 on Friday—the lowest they've been since March 16.
The number of patients intubated also dropped to 48—a new low since mid-March.
The number of patients in intensive care was 116.
Of the 93,873 tests statewide on Friday, 635 came back positive, an infection rate of 0.67 percent.
The state's infection rate has now been less than 1 percent for 22 straight days, Cuomo said.
The total number of cases in the state since the pandemic began is now at 433,402.
There were seven more COVID-related deaths reported Saturday, including one in Manhattan, one in the Bronx and one in Suffolk. The state's death toll is now 25,319.
"As the state's COVID-19 numbers continue to decline, New Yorkers need to stay vigilant and continue wearing masks, social distancing and washing their hands so we can maintain that progress as we move into the fall," Cuomo said in a statement.
"Our ability to keep this deadly virus in check will be determined by what each of us does each day and by the capacity of local governments to enforce state guidance," Cuomo continued, adding that "this pandemic is far from over."
The governor also announced that the State Liquor Authority and State Police Task Force visited 1,554 establishments in New York City and Long Island on Friday and found 18 establishments that weren't in compliance with state COVID requirements.
Eight of the establishments were in Suffolk County, six were in Queens, two were in Manhattan and two were in the Bronx.
