NYC woman, 57, rescued after suffering injury during hike in Rockland County

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 57-year-old woman was injured during a hike in Rockland County was rescued by authorities Sunday afternoon.

Suffern police received a call from a hiker who said she fell and was injured in the mountains off of Orange Avenue.


The hiker wasn't sure of her exact location so Officers Lou Venturini, Dan Kiernan and Det. Anne Cawley responded to the area, climbed up the mountain and located her about 200 feet from the roadway, according to Suffern Police.

The Suffern Fire Department was called due to the dangerous terrain.

Offiicals were able to bring the hiker from New York City down the mountain.

According to police, she was taken to the hospital with an arm injury.
