NYPD arrest the man they say fatally shot Queens man in the back

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police have arrested the man they say fatally shot a Queens resident in the back over a month ago on Friday.Detectives charged Keanu Suckoo, 18, with murder, attempted murder and weapons possession for the fatal shooting of Pernell Cudjoe on March 5.Cudjoe, 27, was standing at the corner of 180 Street and 145 Avenue in the Springfield Gardens area of Queens when someone snuck up behind him and shot him in the back just before 7 p.m., according to police officials.Cudjoe was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where police say he died an hour later.Relatives believe Cudjoe may have been killed over a brand new BMW he purchased.“Everyone is saying maybe there was jealousy,” the victim’s father, Godwin Cudjoe told The Daily News, “He was always outside cleaning the car, cleaning the car, cleaning the car.”Queens prosecutors prepare to arraign Suckoo, who resided around the corner from where the incident took place, and have not released A motive for the killing.
