NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Police have arrested a Queens father in the deadly stabbing of his wife in Queens.

The 58-year-old dad allegedly slashed his wife and 18-year-old daughter at an apartment near 69th Avenue and 195th Lane in Fresh Meadows on Tuesday afternoon.

His wife, 44-year-old Fatima Jaward, was stabbed and slashed in her torso and his daughter was slashed on her wrists and hands.

The daughter managed to grab a cellphone and call 911, police say. Officers arrived and arrested the father, who also had a slash wound to his hand.

Both victims were taken to New York-Presbyterian Hospital in Queens, where the 44-year-old mom was pronounced dead. The daughter was listed in stable condition.

The father’s name has not been released. Charges against him were pending Wednesday.

A neighbor told 1010 WINS that he had always known him to be a “quiet gentleman.”

“He was a peaceful man,” the neighbor said.
