NYPD beefs up security during Village Halloween parade

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) --  The NYPD has beefed up security for this year's Village Halloween parade.

Due to recent world events, a highly visible police presence can be seen, including officers with blocker trucks and K9 explosive teams.

The recent death of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of ISIS, is raising concerns along with Halloween marking two years since the West Side Highway attacks that killed eight people.The Village Halloween parade kicked off at 7 p.m. at 6th Ave and Spring Street.
