NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez fired back at fellow Congressional freshman, Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw, after he joked about her progressive tax proposal on Twitter.

“Should someone propose a 70% tax on the Patriots so that NFL competition is more fair and equal? Asking for a friend,” Crenshaw tweeted after the Patriots won the Super Bowl Sunday night.
Ocasio-Cortez fired away on Twitter the next morning: “The average NFL salary is $2.1 million, so most players would never experience a 70% rate.”
She added: “The owners who refuse to hire Kaepernick would, though.”
Some Twitter users piled on in response to the Texas Republican’s tax joke, while others pointed out that it was a joke and not a serious proposal.
Crenshaw had yet to respond to Ocasio-Cortez’s retort as of Tuesday morning.
Crenshaw is the former Navy SEAL who got into a spat with Saturday Night Live cast member Pete Davidson late last year over a joke Davidson made about his eye patch. Davidson ultimately apologized and Crenshaw accepted the apology on the show.
Ocasio-Cortez has been making waves in Washington for her progressive ideas, including the 70 percent marginal tax rate on the wealthy.
