JERSEY CITY, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Members of the Jewish community and local and state leaders joined Jersey City Police officers on Sunday for a Hanukkah celebration held at the kosher supermarket where the a deadly shooting occurred earlier this month.

Officers Raymond Sanchez and Mariela Fernandez, who were injured while responding to the shooting, were honored at the lighting ceremony.

The community had a simple message to mark the beginning of Hannukkah—hate will not win. The brother of shooting victim Mindy Ferencz, Cantor Yoely Greenfeld, was there and chanted the blessings and sang traditional Hanukkah songs.
