FREEPORT, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- A car jumped a curb in Nassau County on Monday, hitting a family of four, including two kids, officials say.

Freeport Mayor Robert Kennedy says an 11-year-old boy, a 9-year-old girl and their mom and dad were struck by the vehicle.

The boy was airlifted to Cohen Children's Medical Center in Queens, while the other three were taken to a nearby hospital.

There was no immediate word on the conditions of any of the victims.

The car jumped the curb near the intersection of West Merrick Road and South Long Beach Avenue around 4 p.m., according to officials.

Witnesses told 1010 WINS reporter Darius Radzius that it appeared the children and their parents were walking to a corner CVS when they were hit.

The car had a smashed windshield and it appeared the vehicle crushed a sign during the crash.

Lorenzo Paladino says it was a frantic scene.

"The guy just went over the curb and just ran into them, and everybody just started freaking out," Paladino said.

It wasn't immediately clear what may have led to the crash or what happened to the driver.
