NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A Rikers inmate held a clinician hostage in a jail clinic on Tuesday, according to officials.
The clinician was seeing the inmate in a clinic at the George R. Vierno Center when the inmade took hold of the clinician, said Department of Correction spokesperson Peter Thorne.
Officers helped free the hostage soon after, said authorities.
The victim was not injured and the detainee did not have any weapons.
"The detainee has been separated from the general population and we are pursuing re-arrest," said Thorne.
