Over $1M of heroin named 'coronavirus', 'Black Mamba' seized in the Bronx

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A long-term investigation led to police seizing over $1 million worth of heroin and the arrest of six people in the Bronx on Thursday night. 

The DEA seized 120,000 glassine envelopes of suspected heroin/fentanyl with a street value of more than $1 million and drug packaging materials a packaging mill located at 2333 Loring Place North.


At approximately 7 p.m. on May 7, agents and investigators observed Manuel Morillo exiting the suspected drug mill carrying a heavy brown bag into a waiting livery car. 

Surveillance units followed the cab and the driver of the livery car was later identified as Frank Gilberto Marte Urena and a search of the brown bag yielded approximately 80,000 glassines of suspected heroin/fentanyl.  Some of the envelopes were stamped "coronavirus," while others were stamped "Black Mamba" after Kobe Bryant, police said.
