PARAMUS (1010 WINS) – Paramus has delayed the start of in-person learning until November just three days before the start of school.
Superintendent Sean Adams announced the decision after a school board meeting Monday, according to NorthJersey.com.
Adams said too many staff members were resigning, planning to retire, asking for leaves of absence or seeking workplace accommodations.
"While circumstances dictated the need for this adjustment, it is nonetheless an extremely disappointing turn of events for our students, parents/guardians, administration, faculty, staff, and Board of Education," Adams wrote in a letter to the community.
While students will still start remotely Thursday, Adams said the district needs to hire new staff, which will take until Nov. 9, though in-person learning could start before then.
