NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A PATH train derailed at Newark Penn Station at the height of the afternoon rush Thursday, officials said.

The derailment took place around 5:15 p.m.

PATH tweeted that the Newark-World Trade Center route was delayed after "crew reported a derailed train."

NJ Transit is cross-honoring PATH tickets at Hoboken, Newark and Penn Station.

New York City's Office of Emergency Management tweeted, "Due to a minor train derailment, expect mass transit disruptions in PATH Train service. NJ Transit is cross honoring."
