NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A boat caught fire off Staten Island with five people aboard on Monday, the fire department said.
Firefighters were called around 8:30 a.m. to a location off of the East Shore.
Photos shared by the FDNY showed a boat on fire and a heavily charred hull.
"FDNY Marine units responded earlier this morning for a 23-foot pro-line that was on fire out in the middle of Raritan Bay, Staten Island," the FDNY tweeted.
Those on the 23-foot boat jumped in the water and were rescued by people on a nearby boat.
Three were taken to a hospital and two others were treated at the scene, FDNY said.
