NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Placido Domingo has been hospitalized in Acapulco, Mexico, with coronavirus-related complications, multiple outlets reported Sunday night.
"His condition is stable and he will remain in the hospital as long as the doctors find it necessary until a hoped-for full recovery," a spokesperson for the 79-year-old opera singer told The Los Angeles Times.
Domingo last week announced in a Facebook post that he had tested positive for the potentially-deadly virus.
"I feel it is my moral duty to announce to you that I have tested positive for COVID19, the Corona virus," he wrote. "My Family and I are all in self isolation for as long as it is deemed medically necessary. Currently we are all in good health but I experienced fever and cough symptoms therefore deciding to get tested and the result came back positive."
A few days after announcing the news he thanked his fans saying, "I'm very grateful and moved by the outpour of messages that I have received from so many people. Thank you very much from all my heart."
