Police: Fake FedEx workers knock on door, punch tenant in the face

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Police are warning residents about fake FedEx workers behind a violent attempted robbery in the Bronx this month.

The NYPD said two men in FedEx uniforms rang the door of a 23-year-old resident living in an apartment near Tinton Avenue and East 147th Street in the Mott Haven section.

One of the suspects was carrying a package in his arms. When the victim opened his door, the man punched him in the face, according to police.

The two men then pulled out knives in an attempted robbery, police said.

But when they saw that the man's brother was in the apartment with him, they took off in a black, four-door sedan.

The victim was not seriously injured in the attack.

The suspects are believed to be in their early-to-mid 30s.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
