NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are searching for two people in connection with a shooting that injured a bystander in the Bronx on Sunday.
A 31-year-old man was standing in front of a Kennedy Fried Chicken on White Plains Road, near St. Ouen Street in the Wakefield section of the Bronx, around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday when someone fired a gun at another person from inside a car, the NYPD said Monday evening.
The bullet hit the 31-year-old man instead of its intended target, police said. The person the gunman was aiming for fired back, but didn't hit anyone, according to police.
The 31-year-old was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition, the NYPD said.
Police are now searching for the person who fired back, a male between the ages of 18 and 24 who was last seen wearing a face mask, a black hoodie, black sweatpants and black and white sneakers.
Police are also searching for a second person in connection with the shootings, an 18- to 24-year-old male who was last seen wearing an unzipped black hoodie and a black baseball cap with the letter "P."
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
