NEWARK (1010 WINS) – Two Newark police officers thought they were helping a sick person in a car – instead they were dragged when the driver allegedly took off in a wild altercation caught on an officer's body camera.
The officers were responding to a call about a sick man in a car near Charleston and Spruce streets Saturday morning, but police say they found 30-year-old Jacob Wolski inside using drugs.
When the officers leaned in to question him, Wolski floored it, dragging both officers several feet, according to police.
The altercation was caught on an officer’s body camera, the footage of which was released by the Newark Department of Public Safety.
One officer had a minor head injury and the other had a hand injury. They were both treated and released.
Wolski was located by Edison police and eventually handed over to police in Marlboro, where there was a warrant out for his arrest.
He faces a slew of charges, including assault, resisting arrest and eluding, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of heroin.
