FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. (1010 WINS) — The prices of ever-popular Girl Scout cookies, like Tagalongs and Thin Mints, vary by location, depending on the socio-economic status of the region.
In New Jersey, boxes that sell for $4 in Middlesex County can fetch $6 in ritzier Bergen County.
One local mother of a Girl Scout was worried that the different pricing schemes could make it more difficult for her daughter to sell cookies.
"My concern was that I'm selling to the same people that are paying $4 and $5 a box, and my daughter is selling for $5 and $6 a box," she said. "I unfortunately started selling to the same people after someone else got to them."
Another resident however, was able to make peace with paying a little bit more for a box of cookies, because “the money is going to a good cause.”
