NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Pride Island, the two-day music festival at Pier 97 in Midtown West, was evacuated for a second time this weekend because of severe weather.
The pier was evacuated because of windy weather around 3 p.m. Fans were ushered into a protected area under the Henry Hudson Parkway.
New York City Pride tweeted that severe weather was the cause of the evacuation.
Video from the scene shows attendees walking from the pier as flags and tents blow wildly in the wind.
The pier reopened reopened shortly after 4 p.m. Sunday.
1010 WINS reporter Roger Stern says there doesn’t appear to be any injuries at the scene.
Pride Island was evacuated Saturday because of lightning as strong thunderstorms moved through the Tri-State. It was reopened about an hour later. Grace Jones, Teyana Taylor, Amara La Negra, Pabllo Vittar and Johnny Dynell were scheduled to perform.
Abel, Morabito and Madonna are scheduled to perform Sunday.
