During comments at a West London YMCA, Harry called the game 'more addictive than drugs and alcohol.' He said the game 'shouldn't be allowed' in the U.K. and told parents that it would be 'irresponsible' for them to let their kids play it, the Hollywood Reporter wrote.
In 2018, Fortnite generated $2.4 billion in revenue and 250 million players. The game is free to download, but allows optional in-game purchases for small sums.
Harry's comments come months after a Change.org petition by two teenagers jokingly called for the game's end. The petition garnered over 2,000 signatures and sparked a discussion about video game usage, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
