NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Tonight is the most important night in recent Knicks history, as their NBA-worst record ties them for the best chance at landing the #1 pick, widely expected to be Duke’s Zion Williamson, viewed as a once-in-a-generation player.
Since this is the Knicks, however, and their chance at the #1 pick is only 14 percent, they’re enlisting some outside help.
The New York Post reports a rabbi, a priest, a miracle healer, a shaman and two witches came by Madison Square Garden in recent days to pray for the Knicks to get the pick.
Rabbi Adam Mintz of Kehilat Rayim Ahuvim synagogue told the Post, ““But the Bible does instruct us that we have a mitzvah, an obligation, to be supporters of Zion and lovers of Zion. So God, we ask you: Please let the lottery fall to the Knicks tonight so that we can be lovers of Zion and supporters of Zion, for many years to come.”
Witches Rosalyn Windsong and Joanne Tsz Yan walked around the building with sage sticks, chanting Zion Williamson’s name.
Joey Stann, a shaman, attempted to communicate via telepathy with executives in the draft room.
The Knicks last won the lottery in 1985, when the selection of Patrick Ewing, changed the fortunes of the franchise, sending them to a two NBA finals appearances and the cusp of a championship.
