NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – The Burmese python is one of the largest snakes in the world, and a specimen found in the Florida Everglades is impressive to stay the least.

The female python is more than 17 feet long, weighs 140 pounds and contains 73 developing eggs.

The snake is the largest python ever removed from Big Cypress National Preserve, a park west of Miami.

Most pythons found in the preserve are between six and ten feet long.

Teams have been removing the snakes from Big Cypress, where they’re considered an invasive species that poses significant threats to native wildlife.
