NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Reddit is following in the footsteps of fellow social media giants Twitter and Snap, and is banning President Trump-related content.
The San Francisco-based company announced on Monday that it is banning a pro-Trump community -- also known as a "subreddit" -- because it broke the platform's rules on harassment and targeting others with hate speech.
The community, "The_Donald," has more than 790,000 users, who post messages, videos, and memes about Trump.
"Reddit is a place for community and belonging, not for attacking people,” Steve Huffman, the company’s chief executive, said in a call with reporters Monday. "'The_Donald' has been in violation of that."
About another 2,000 communities are also being banned from Reddit, but some also fall on the left end of the political spectrum.
