NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Newly elected Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez held her ceremonial swearing-in Saturday afternoon in the Bronx.
Her ceremony had been delayed because of the month-long government shutdown.
She made her inaugural address at an event at the Renaissance School for Musical Theater and Technology.
"When it comes to our right to health care; our right to migrate; our right to live; our right to be paid a dignified wage – we will not take 'no' for an answer," she said.
The event also included remarks from local officials and community leaders, as well as performances by local artists.
