NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Residents of Bay Ridge have been complaining that nighttime joyriders are making the roads more dangerous for everyone.
Locals tell CBS 2 the intersection of Bay Ridge Avenue and Shore Road has become haven to drivers who speed, roar their engines, and do donuts.
People speed “up this block like it’s the Daytona 500,” one told CBS 2.
Bay Ridge City Councilmember Justin Brannan told 1010 WINS that it “really comes down to a culture where, you know, some people get behind the wheel of their car and they think that they’re more important than everybody else on the street.”
Brannon says more police patrols are needed, otherwise we’re just waiting for a tragedy.
