
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Someone struck a high-pressure gas main in Brooklyn Monday, forcing residents to evacuate the area amid a reported heavy smell of gas.
Officials said the gas main was struck by workers at 47th Street and 12th Avenue in Borough Park around noon.
Residents reported a strong smell of gas.
Councilman Kalman Yeger says residents were evacuated from multiple buildings but were eventually allowed back.
NYC Emergency Management said residents should expect emergency personnel and traffic delays amid the leak.
