NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Bernie Sanders said Michael Bloomberg won’t be able to handle Donald Trump in a debate and that the president will "chew him up."
The Democratic frontrunner’s comments came after what many saw as a poor first-time performance by Bloomberg at Wednesday’s debate in Nevada.
Sanders told Anderson Cooper in a “60 Minutes” interview airing Sunday that he was surprised by Bloomberg’s performance. “Yes, I was. I was,” Sanders said.
“If that’s what happened in a Democratic debate, you know, I think it’s quite likely that Trump will chew him up and spit him out,” Sanders said.
When asked by Cooper if he’s less worried after Bloomberg’s debate performance, Sanders said: “I am worried about an unprecedented amount of money being spent on a campaign. We’ve never seen anything like this in American history. And I just think though that the American people will rebel against this type of oligarchic movement. We are a democracy—one person one vote—not a guy worth $60 billion buying an election.”
