NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A yellow school bus fatally struck an 83-year-old man as he tried to cross a Queens street with his wife Wednesday morning, officials said.
Bing Nyan Chen was pinned under the mni-school bus as they crossed 67th Drive in Middle Village about 8:30 a.m. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Chen's wife was not harmed and the only people on the bus were the driver and school bus matron.
Neighborhood residents say the intersection is dangerous and speeding is a common occurrence since there is no stop sign or crosswalk.
So far, no arrests have been made.
The bus driver was taken to the hospital to be treated for shock.
