NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Police on Tuesday upped the number of attacks in the Bronx by a sexual predator they've been hunting for from three to four attacks.
The NYPD released surveillance video of a suspect on Sunday. They say he's wanted for groping and attempted rape.
All four women were attacked within blocks of one another in the Baychester and Co-Op City sections of the Bronx. The attacks happened between 7:20 p.m. and 8:20 p.m. Thursday night, according to police.
In the first attack, a 52-year-old woman was walking on Bartow Ave. at 7:20 p.m. when the man came up from behind and grabbed her rear end. He then grabbed her privates before running off.
Police announced Tuesday that the same man approached a woman, 44, on Baychester Ave. at 7:55 p.m. and grabbed her shoulder. She fled for her safety.
At 8:10 p.m., the man targeted another 44-year-old woman on Baychester Ave., between Donizetti Pl. and Darrow Pl. Police say the woman was sitting in her parked car when the man opened the passenger side door, entered the vehicle and began touching her breasts and groin. A struggle ensued and the woman began yelling. The man took off.
The fourth attack happened just before 8:20 p.m. Police say a 48-year-old woman was getting packages out of her parked car when the man came up from behind her and grabbed her groin. The woman began yelling and the man ran away.
None of the victims suffered physical injuries.
Police describe the man as having a dark complexion and medium build with short dark hair and a full beard. He was last seen wearing a green hooded jacket, black jeans and black boots.
Women from the area who spoke with 1010 WINS said they hope the man is caught as soon as possible but that they'll be extra careful in the meantime.
"I'm extremely worried. This is really surprising that this happened over here," one woman named Angelie said.
Juliet, another Co-Op City resident, said the attacks have her rethinking her safety.
"I'll have to be aware of my surroundings—definitely," she said.
