NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A shark washed up on Rockaway Beach on Monday afternoon, photos posted to social media show.
A beachgoer spotted the shark around 2:30 p.m. on Monday, the New York Post reported.
Photos The Rockaway Times posted on Twitter show a bloodied shark washed up on the sand, with beachgoers congregating not far from the creature.
Beachgoers saw the shark swimming near the shore before it ended up on the sand, according to the Post.
New York City's beaches will be reopening to swimmers on Wednesday.
