NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Jersey City is implementing a ban on single-use plastic bags starting Friday.
The new rule prohibits retailers from providing single-use plastic carryout bags and non-recyclable paper bags to customers at the checkout counter.
Alternatives will include reusable shopping and grocery bags that can be purchased online or at several stores.
The move makes Jersey City the largest city in the state to put such a ban in place.
