NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The beleaguered National Enquirer is being sold for $100 million to James Cohen, the ceo of Hudson News, the Washington Post reported Wednesday, citing sources familiar with the agreement.
Hudson News is largely known to consumers as the operator of newsstands in airports and train stations.
The National Enquirer's publisher, American Media, has been looking for a buyer for the tabloid for several weeks.
The publication was heavily scrutinized after it published steamy text messages between Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez.
Another point of concern is American Media chief David Pecker's cozy relationship with Donald Trump, which is responsible for American Media titles pulling negative stories about Trump.
