Sources: Queens stabbing leaves mom, unborn baby dead

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A horrific stabbing in Queens left a pregnant woman and her unborn child dead, police say.

Law enforcement sources tell 1010 WINS that the woman was five months pregnant and that the baby did not make it.

Police say the 35-year-old victim was found with multiple wounds to her neck and torso in the lobby of a building on Myrtle Avenue, near Fresh Pond Road in Ridgewood, around 1 a.m.

She was taken to Wyckoff Medical Center, but neither she nor her baby survived.

The victim was identified Sunday morning as Jennifer Irigoyen of Queens.

A witness named Christian tells 1010 WINS she heard the woman screaming.

"I just heard screams and her just saying something about her baby and wanting to protect her baby," Christian said.

It's unknown if it was a random assault or if the victim and her attacker knew each other.

No arrests have been made.

Bloody footprints were seen on the ground near the crime scene, and police are said to be looking for a man who was reportedly spotted running from the area.
