NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- City Council Speaker Corey Johnson has postponed his State of the City speech that was set for Tuesday afternoon, amid coronavirus concerns.
"Out of an abundance of caution, we are postponing my State of the City speech, Johnson said in a speech. "We felt this was the right decision to ensure that Council employees and the hundreds of guests we invited remians safe and healthy."
He added that he planned to announce policies and proposals planned for the city, but the speech seemed like an unecessary risk when New Yorkers are being urged to consider measures like telecommuting or staggered work hours.
