NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A fire in the Graniteville section of Staten Island has claimed the life of one person.
According to FDNY, a 55-year-old woman was found unconscious and unresponsive and was taken to Richmond University Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
The flames originated in the basement of a home on Spartan Avenue just after 7 a.m.
The victim's 23-year-old nephew also suffered minor smoke inhalation and ten firefighters are being treated as well.
Officials say the cause of the fire is electrical and is not being considered suspicious.
