NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Director Steven Spielberg received the key to the city of Paterson from Mayor Andre Sayegh Tuesday.

The key was awarded at a private ceremony in the mayor’s office.

Spielberg has been filming a new adaptation of West Side Story in Paterson, making the city’s streets resemble 1950s New York City for the production.

Filming has taken place in the Art Factory, the parking lot between Center City Mall and City Hall, and on Ellison Street behind City Hall.

West Side Story is slated to arrive in theaters in the U.S. on December 18, 2020.
