Study suggest NJ cities may be underwater by 2100

Hoboken

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) —A new study posits that nine cities in New Jersey may be almost entirely underwater by the end of the 21st century.

The Delaware-based financial firm 24/7 Wall Street has released a report that says cities uninhabitable by 2100 will include Hoboken, Secaucus and Atlantic City.

The study finds that 29.5 percent of Hoboken's population is at risk of being underwater by 2060.

Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla says his residents are all too familiar with flooding.

He says officials have been working since Superstorm Sandy to make the city more flood resilient through its Rebuild by Design program.

That includes building floor protection barriers.
