NEW YORK (1010 WINS) New York City taxi drivers are taking their complaints against a recently imposed congestion pricing surcharge to the streets of midtown at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

They plan to form a cabbie caravan around Gov. Cuomo’s office on Third Avenue and East 41st Street.

The caravan will likely cause gridlock in the area.

The surcharge adds $2.50 to all yellow cab rides below 96th street in Manhattan.

The New York Taxi Workers Alliance says taxi fares are down 38 percent since 2012 and they expect them to fall over 30 percent over the next year due to the surcharge.

The cabbies are calling for raising taxes on wealthy New Yorkers to raise revenue instead of the congestion tax.
