NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A teenage boy punched a 74-year-old woman in the face as he and two other teens tried to steal her purse in the East Village, the NYPD said Saturday.
The woman was on East 14th Street, near 1st Avenue, around 7 p.m. on Thursday when a teenage boy snatched her purse, police said. When the woman confronted the boy and two other teenagers who were with him, a second teenage boy punched her in the face, knocking her to the ground, the NYPD said.
The teen who grabbed the woman's purse dropped it after she fell, and all three teens ran off, police said. The attack left the woman with bruises and swelling to her face and cuts and scrapes on her hands, but she refused medical attention, the NYPD said.
Surveillance video released by the NYPD appears to show one of the teens shoving a second woman to the ground after she tries to intervene in the attempted robbery.
