TOMS RIVER, N.J. (1010 WINS) – Some Jersey Shore residents are getting an early Thanksgiving… and it’s terrifying them.
Residents of a senior community in Toms River say they’ve been bullied by a gaggle of 40 to 60 turkeys that are pecking at cars, breaking windows and trapping people in their homes.
"I can't get out of my door," one resident told News12. "Sometimes I can't get out of my car. They go to attack you."
The birds have even tried to bite people, with one resident comparing them to aggressive dogs.
Video posted online shows gangs of the gobblers roaming streets and yards and even walking on the roof of a house.
Officials say animal control officers can’t curtail the unruly birds because they’re not licensed to trap wildlife.
