NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – President Trump took time to blast actor Jussie Smollett during his visit to Japan this weekend, saying the “Empire” actor should apologize to all Trump supporters.

Smollett claimed back in January that he was attacked by men who called him racial slurs and shouted, “This is MAGA country.” After an investigation, police accused him of staging an attack against himself.

Trump tweeted that Smollett is the one who perpetrated a hate crime against his supporters and that he should apologize.

“In addition to great incompetence and corruption, The Smollett case in Chicago is also about a Hate Crime,” Trump tweeted.

Two months ago, prosecutors abruptly dropped charges against Smollett, including for disorderly conduct and filing a false police report.

Then last week, a judge ordered that Smollett’s criminal case file be unsealed. Prosecutors say it’ll be released by early June.

Smollett has maintained his innocence in the case, which garnered national attention after the alleged attack in Chicago on Jan. 29.
