NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- President Donald Trump says he has nothing to do with efforts to get Kanye West on presidential ballots, amid reports that claim Republican operatives -- some with ties to Trump -- are helping the rapper get on ballots in a slew of states.
CNN reported Wednesday that these operatives are "actively" assisting West get on ballots in states such as Vermont, Arkansas and Wisconsin, in an effort to draw voters -- particularly those who are young and Black -- away from Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.
But when Trump was asked by a reporter at Wednesday's White House briefing if he had any part in "encouraging" operatives to help West get on ballots, Trump said, "I like him, he's always been very nice to me," but added it was news to him that any GOP operatives were helping West get on ballots.
"No not at all," Trump said. "I like Kanye very much. No, I have nothing to do with him getting on the ballot. We'll have to see what happens. We'll see if he gets on the ballot, but no, I'm not involved. "
