Trump: NY AG’s NRA probe is illegal attack on ‘very important organization’

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- President Donald Trump has accused the New York attorney general's office of illegally investigating the National Rifle Association.

New York AG Letitia James' office announced Saturday, that they had launched an investigation into the NRA, but would not confirm what prompted the probe.

A recent leadership dispute within the group led to allegations of financial misconduct. NRA President Oliver North had accused CEO Wayne LaPierre of misappropriating $200,000.

James had promised to investigate the NRA to ensure that the organization complied with non-profit rules, when she ran for attorney general in 2018.
