NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – The U.S. announced Friday that it is suspending all routine visa services at all U.S. embassies and consulates worldwide amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Embassies and consulates will cancel all routine immigrant and nonimmigrant visa appointments starting Friday.
“As resources allow, embassies and consulates will continue to provide urgent and emergency visa services,” the State Department said on its website.
Routine visa services will resume “as soon as possible,” but the State Department said it was unable to give a specific date.
Services will still be available to U.S. citizens at embassies around the world.
The federal government has already stopped most Europeans from entering the U.S. as outbreaks grow more severe in places like Italy and Spain.
