NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The U.S. women's soccer team landed at Newark Liberty International Airport Monday around 4:30 p.m. on a private Boeing 757 that took off from Lyon, France, ahead of a ticker tape parade Wednesday to celebrate the teams' win over the Netherlands in the Women’s World Cup.
The team posted a photo earlier in the day from Lyon on Twitter, writing "WE'RE COMING HOME."
A limited number of tickets to attend a ceremony at City Hall will be available to the public and registration opens at 2 p.m. Monday at nyc.gov/USWNT19.
In a tweet minutes after the team’s victory, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced there would be a parade Wednesday at the Canyon of Heroes, a stretch of Broadway in lower Manhattan where parades are held, to celebrate the victory.
