VIDEO: NYPD searches for robber who knocked down, dragged 80-year-old man

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – An 80-year-old man was knocked to the ground and robbed in the Bronx—the latest attack on a city senior captured on surveillance video.

The 80-year-old man was walking on East 199th Street in the Jerome Park section on the morning of June 7 when he was approached from behind by his attacker, video released Friday by the NYPD shows.

Police said the suspect tried to take the man's backpack, causing the man to fall to the sidewalk.

The suspect dragged the man across the sidewalk until he gave up the backpack, police said.

The thief then took off down 199th Street with the victim's belongings.

Police said the victim suffered a laceration to his right knee but refused medical attention.

Just days ago, a man with over 100 prior arrests was nabbed for allegedly punching a 92-year-old woman at random on a Manhattan street.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
