NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A video of a man defacing an NYPD patrol car was tweeted by several police unions on Thursday.
The footage captures the man spray paintng the words "Help Us" on the side of a police car near River Avenue and East 153rd Street in the Bronx around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, officials say.
"The tag says "help us," the Police Benevolent Association tweeted. "Our elected leaders have sent a clear message: the cops are on their own. And now the criminals and anti-police agitators are laughing as our city slides downhill, fast."
The Detectives' Endowment Association also commented on the incident, asking Mayor Bill de Blasio to denounce the crime."Waiting for the @NYCMayor and all elected officials to denounce this crime," the tweet read. "The people you serve deserve to hear from you. Think of how they feel living in a city where brazen criminals know there will be no consequences due to ill-advised, failing criminal justice policies."Police have labeled the incident as a criminal mischief, and is currently under investigation.
