NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A fraternity at Hofstra University on Long Island has been suspended after a video surfaced on social media showing its members forcing a puppy to drink beer from a keg at a party Saturday, held at Alpha Epsilon Pi's off-campus house in Hempstead.

Nassau County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals spokesman Det. Gary Rogers told 1010 WINS it was "poor judgement" by the students to engage in such an activity.
The King Charles Cavalier belongs to one of the men in the video, according to the SPCA. The SPCA said it's unsure, though, which man in the video is the dog's owner.
In the video, a man picks up the dog, while another man places the keg's nozzle near the pooch's mouth as beer comes out.
"The behavior seen on the video is unacceptable and in violation of the University's Code of Community Standards," Hofstra spokeswoman Karla Schuster said. "The University has been in communication with Alpha Epsilon Pi International headquarters, as well as with chapter members regarding this off-campus incident."
It is unclear if the owner of the dog or any other students will be disciplined.
Rogers said, "That dog had no choice. It didn't say, 'Hey I want a beer and I want it poured down my throat,' so it's wrong. We're going to gather all the evidence, and once we have all the evidence, we'll sit down with the District Attorney's Office and see how we're going to proceed from there."
A spokesperson for Alpha Epsilon Pi said the chapter at Hofstra has been placed on "cease and desist" due to suspected violations of the organization's health and safety policies.
"We hope that we are able to use this as a teaching moment to help build better young men who are committed to our policies and our mission of developing future leaders of the world's Jewish communities," fraternity spokesman Jon Pierce said.
