NEW YORK (1010 WINS) --  "Jeopardy" host Alex Trebek, who announced in March he had been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, has finished chemotherapy and is back at work, he announced in a promotional video for the show's new season released on Thursday.

"I've gone through a lot of chemotherapy and thankfully, that is now over," Trebek, who turned 79 last month, said. "I'm on the mend and that's all I can hope for right now."

He added, "Let me tell you, it's going to be a good year."

Trebek said the response from concerned fans was "mind-boggling," and thank fans for their "good thoughts, their positive energy directed towards me and their prayers."

"I told the doctors, 'This has to be more than just the chemo,' and they agreed it could very well be an important part of this," he said. "I’ve got a lot of love out there headed in my direction and a lot pf prayer, and I will never ever minimize the value of that."
