NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 64-year-old Teaneck, New Jersey woman accidentally drover her Mercedes SUV into the Hackensack River in Hackensack Tuesday after she hit the gas pedal instead of the brake, while exiting a car wash -- and it was all caught in a video released by the Hackensack Fire Department.
The driver was transported to a hospital with minor injuries, fire officials said. The 27-year-old passenger declined medical care at the scene.
The incident took place at Spotless Car Wash on River Street.
"Unfortunately, there's no rules that say there has to be a guardrail there," Hackensack Fire Captain Justin Derevyanik said. "That's up to the property owner. But right now, we're lucky that everybody got out. We were there to respond. We got on scene very quickly, and everybody worked together as a good team. We had a happy outcome today."
